Bethany Christian School’s mission is to help children realize that they are special. Our goal is to provide a loving Christian environment where self-concept is enhanced, independence is encouraged, and the foundation of respect for others is established. We hope to build self-confidence in each child by allowing choices within limits so that they can build on successful experiences.
Program Goals
Bethany Christian School has a carefully planned program that enhances the social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of each child. We hope to maintain a balance of these four areas so that each child can develop a positive attitude towards learning and towards responsibility, self-discipline and self-esteem.
- Social
- To promote and instill a sense of caring and sensitivity toward others; to develop a recognition of group needs verses individual differences; to aid in the development of problem-solving skills; to help each child learn how to participate in a group.
- Intellectual
- To provide a wide variety of activities within a routine where cooperative play is encouraged; to provide curriculum areas of art, science, cooking, dramatic play, language and fine motor activities where each child will have the opportunity to trust their own feelings about what is learned, heard, seen and done and begin sharing these experiences with others.
- Physical
- To have each child use their body in a variety of active ways by participating in fine and large motor activities both indoors and outdoors.
- Emotional
- To provide a warm accepting environment for each child to work and play in; to help develop self-discipline in each child; to provide appropriate alternatives to angry and aggressive behavior and strengthen inner emotional controls.
Staff
- Our teachers are chosen not only for their previous experience with children, but also for their love for children.
- All teachers receive 15 hours of on-going training each year, including monthly staff meetings, and a variety of workshops.
- All teachers are required to be CPR and First Aid certified. This training is done annually.
